The year 2021 is set to be a busy one for Emily Ratajkowski. Not only is the 29-year-old model and activist expecting her first child in the early Spring, but she’s also writing a book.
Ratajkowski announced via Instagram earlier this month that she is working on a collection of essays entitled My Body, due to be published in 2022. My Body will focus on the topics of consent, power, and body image and detail Ratajkowski’s own experiences of these issues through her life as a model. This will not be Ratajkowski’s first foray into writing; she recently wrote an essay that went viral for The Cut, which explored the question of when a model owns her image. According to The Bookseller, the article garnered over one million views within the first 24 hours of its publication.
Katy Follian, publisher for Quercus Books, which bought the UK rights for the upcoming collection, commented that “I have rarely experienced an editorial meeting such as the one in which I presented Emily’s book. The groundswell of support, admiration, and excitement from my Generation Z female colleagues right through to my older ones was incredible.
