Winnie Harlow’s kicking off Black History Month by making some history of her own. Today, the model and activist became Paul Mitchell’s first-ever global ambassador since the brand was founded in 1980.

“Partnering with an iconic brand like Paul Mitchell is close to my heart, as my mom was a hairdresser growing up. I loved seeing her transform a client’s hair, put a smile on their face, and leave them happy and ready to rule the world,” Harlow said in a statement. Her hairstylist and friend César DeLeön Ramirêz is also joining the team in the role of brand ambassador. An industry veteran, Ramirêz has worked on many famous heads in addition to Harlow’s, including Beyoncé, Ciara, Kylie Jenner, and Ariana Grande’s.

The new gig marks the first hair-care ambassadorship for Harlow, who is no stranger to switching up styles. “Expressing myself through hair is a fun experience that represents different stages in my life,” she said in a release. “I get to create new personas, personalities and characters with every look—from super sexy with long, straight hair, a chilled-out feel with curly waves, and a little tomboy with a short cut.”

You can meet some of those aforementioned characters, plus some solid bangs, in Harlow’s inaugural campaign for the brand: a ’90s supermodel-inspired shoot shot by renowned photographer Micaiah Carter, featuring different looks Ramirêz created for his versatile muse.
